Today Aaron and I traded turns going to the World Wide Training, which is a meeting we receive extra council from our church leaders. It was excellent. If you didn't get a chance to listen to it go to LDS.org on Tuesday and listen to it. It was all about FAMILIES. I don't think there is anything more pressing to talk about than how to strengthen our families. The theme was Raising a Righteous Posterity.
I just wanted to share some personal insight I received from it. Since most of the individuals who will read this are mom you'll probably relate to it.
Let me lay out the setting, a round table discussion with 5 individuals, two males and 3 females namely, Elder Holland, Elder Oaks, Sister Landt, Sister Tanner and Sister Beck. Elder Holland was the mediator. The topic of discussion was raising children when I received insight for my family. The comment was made by Sister Landt that "Motherhood is WORK". Hard work. We all know that from our different experiences if it from being with our own children or with our siblings children. But I've gleaned that I can almost treat motherhood as a job. At a job one is evaluated, expected to change and learn, is also expected to do our best and our boss helps us stay on that path. We'll mothers we don't physically see our boss everyday, but I would invited you to think that maybe Heavenly father can act not only as a Father, but a mentor and almost a boss. If we are having trouble with a child, like I am I need to do as much study as I can and go to our boss, Heavenly Father for help. I challenged myself to self-evaluate my mothering during some quiet time this weekend. How am I doing as a mother, what are my goals, how can I do better.
I think Satan would have us forget about our mission as mothers. He would have us pass by the day without remember what we are called to do. We are called to teach and rear our children in the gospel. The Proclamation To The World On Families teaches us that happiness in family life is most likely to be achieved when founded upon the teachings of Jesus Christ. Mothers we can't forget our roles. We can do better each day. We're not going to be perfect in this life, but if we learn now on earth what we can about mothering the next life will be better.
Well, my daughter is waking up from her nap. Time to go. Faith is the key. The Lord will help us be better.
Till I write again.
