For a couple of week prior to the Salt Lake City 1/2 marathon I couldn't stop being concerned Aaron wouldn't run the race that I signed him up for last Dec. I was so concerned that the day before the race (Friday) I decided I better run it with him so that he'd do it, but in all reality he would have done it without me. See, we both had a goal to run at least one 1/2 marathon this year. I wasn't fully committed to the goal, but he was. When I approach Aaron with the idea of me running with him he was very sceptical since I hadn't really run for a year. Having a baby 3 months ago didn't allow much time for good solid training. I have been exercising though, I worked out until the day before I had Ayden and have tried to keep a little in shape. So Friday afternoon we picked up our packets and had a non pasta dinner at our friends cabin and woke up EARLY Sat. At this point Aaron was still waiting for me to drop out of the race, but in my mind I kept thinking, if I can hike 18 miles in one day without any training I could run 12 miles without training. It held true. We ran it together and did it better than we thought we could. 2:35 without any training and with a 10 min potty break, the lines were terrible.
We are a little sore today, but feel great. My goal at the beginning of the race was to cross the finish line with no injuries and I did it. Aaron was so nice, he stayed with me the whole time, stopping when I needed to and kept a good steady pace the whole way. Aaron, I love you even more. We need to do more challenging things together.
What a good memory! You should all try it!
These are our friends the Fluckingers who ran it with us. They did great, they actually trained for it. Josh and I don't have our bibs on but we really did do it.

Way to go girl! I also loved reading the 100 things about you ..a lot of them made me smile..and I think I knew about 20 of them!
Are you kidding me? I am so proud of you!! That is awesome!! You go girl!
wow, wow, wow, Chris. I'm fairly confident that I won't be running any races 3 months postpartum. my big goal is to be showering regularly by then.
Congrats Christine!!! You are the one that got me started in all of this. I am signed up for the IRONGIRL here in MD in August.
That is AMAZING!!! You are my hero! By the way, this is Erin! I found your blog through some of the other sisters. Please send me your email and I'll send you an invite :) That way we can keep in touch better. I am not the best at email either!
Hi Christine!
Kendra Portlock here... I saw your comment on Liz's blog and followed your link here. Amazing and inspiring job on the half marathon. I just started running for the first time in my life about 2 months ago and can only do about 2.5 miles without collapsing. Sort of self-training for a 5K sometime. I'm in Manhattan with my husband and 2 girls where he teaches ESL and I stay at home.
Nice to see you again! :)
Love, Kendra
Kendra, I'd love to keep in touch. I wish I had your email.
ps Kendra, running is easier than having babies and you've already had two, so the 5k will be a piece of cake.
