Our Trip to the Bean

The Petersen's (Christine's family) had some amazing friends growing up, one family being the Kelly's. Summer and Bryn are in the picture above. Whenever I'm around them I always learn something new. For example Sister Kelly (the mother of our friends) reminded me today that teaching requires the teacher to teach by inspiration and not by just doing everything the lesson manual says to do. It is important to know what the members of your class needs and how do we know that? from a loving Heavenly Father who knows us all individually. So a teacher must pray for guidance. Sister Kelly informed me that a person who is over the MTC said the missionaries are having a hard time learning not to be rote in their lessons They can't get away from reading exactly what's on the page and instead finding the topic to discuss and speak from the heart. Why do you think it would be hard for someone to do something new.... because they haven't properly been taught. I believe we must teach our children and those we serve to really study and learn the principles of the gospel so they can be well versed when the Spirit gives us guidance. We must do our part in the studying, the Spirit will not do everything for us. Sister Kelly is a great teacher!

A few other people I was inspired by today were Summer and Allen. They have a great bed time routine for their children. This is how it goes. They make sure they eat dinner around 5pm after that they get their kids bathed, read book, read scriptures and get them to bed before 7:30pm. Amazing! Than the parents can have some time in the evening. My sister and I thought that was such a great idea we are going to try it with our families. I'm so excite to start tomorrow.

Anyway, today was a great day. We saw the Kelly's, went to the Bean Museum on BYU campus and had great pizza at some pizza joint. How wonderful.

The pictures below are our interpretations of dead animals:)

We love the Bean Museum! The 'free' part gets us there all the time.

Christine-

Of course I remember you! It's so great to hear from you and to see your blog and your beautiful family! It looks like we have some similarities with our kids. Well, I am glad you're excited about going off sugar too! I agree, it is a reward for everything we do and maybe in true moderation it's okay, but it's so easy to go overboard and our bodies get addicted to the junky stuff so easily. Well, let me know when you decide to start and how you're going to do it and we can keep tabs on eachother. Thanks for writing on my blog and I hope you have a GREAT weekend!

I love the Kelly and Petersen families!!! Looks like you had a great time being together. We are big fans of the lights out by 7:30 routine. We get sitters while are kids are asleep and go to the movies. Much better than worrying about them awake while we are gone. Fun to be in Utah with all your family.

Hey Christine,

It's Mehrsa. How are you? I just found your blog from Traci's. It's so nice to see your family and your kids and Leanne. I would love Leanne's email if you have it. I live in New York and am in the same ward as Jeff Jackson and Cameron Kelley and some others from our stake, but I would love to see you guys and catch up. I have been in touch with Celeste and Elizabeth through blogs. I am happy to have found yours and to see leanne as well. Tell her I said hello and I would love her email too. These pictures just crack me up. Takes me back to girls camp. I can totally see you guys just doing animal poses in the museum. I love that you haven't changed at all.
